Composite Pallets

A pallet employs the use of a rigid body which is capable of supporting a concrete product. Composite pallets are made out of high quality and very dense plywood. The layers of the pallet are treated with waterproof resin which is then pressed under very high pressure and temperature to smoothen it. These pallets, also known as production boards, are single solid pieces, with no joints or gaps whatsoever.

Manufacturing Process

Composite production boards have high mechanical stability, excellent vibration properties, long life, good wear resistance and resistance against water and cement.

The two types of composite pallets are the PRO and the Standard production boards. PRO production board has semi smooth surfaces on each side of the laminated woven fibre layers. This gives these boards a high wear resistible surface protection. In the Standard production boards, the semi smooth surfaces are made of a wear resistible shuttering film face. These two surfaces in the composite pallet increases the stiffness of the production boards and also avoids deflection. The saw cut sides will be coated so as to avoid any kind of moisture absorption and delamination.

Raw Material

Composite Pallets use Hardwood Fibres from Asian Plantation . They are made waterproof after treatment with waterproof resin. The Asian Hardwood Fibre is mainly obtained from the plantations along South-East Asia.

The Composite Pallet is manufactured by the pressing and heating process in fully automatic machines, using a well researched and established combination of Hardwood Fibre and Industrial Grade Resin. Depending upon the customer requirements, the manufacturer ensures that the production boards are correctly machined and calibrated so as to achieve the exact size required. Composite Pallets are strong boards which do not require any kind of edge strengthening.


The Tolerances of different dimensions of the production board is as listed below:

Length : ± 2.0 mm. Width : ± 2.0 mm. Thickness : ± 1.0 mm. Diagonal : ≤ 8 mm.

Flatness is measured with respect to the tolerances of various dimensions as given:

Length and Diagonal of Board ≤ 2 mm. Width of Board ≤ 1.5 mm. As measured by a ruler (straightener tool): L = 1000 mm.

The sides or edges of the board is cut at 5x5mm size. An automatic grinding (sanding) machine is used to calibrate the board for thickness. After the manufacturing process, the pallets do not go through any further treatment and are ready for use as a pallet for concrete product manufacturing.

Size of Pallets

Usually pallets of any given size can be manufactured. The customer requirements for a pallet size is always met successfully. However, the main sizes that pallets are manufactured in are for concrete blocks, pavers and Kerbstone.

Pallets are also manufactured in sizes varying from a small size of 550 X 400 mm to a much larger size of 1500 X 1500 mm.


The number of pallets packaged into a single bundle is solely dependent upon the thickness of the production boards. Usually, boards are bundled into packages of 20 pallets per bundle. Steel straps are used as wrappings for these bundles.

If we take for example a bundle comprising of 18/22 boards, 2 across length side and 2 across width side steel straps are wrapped and protected to avoid damages during transport of these bundles of production boards.
